Moving Out

After spending my whole life in the only place I’ve called home in the last 30 odd years, it’s finally time to say farewell. I grew up in this neighbourhood and saw how the area has evolved in the past three decades. There’s been gentrification with hardware and canvas shops give way to hipster cafes and trendy restaurants.

As the surroundings changed, old neighbours have also moved out or passed on, but I’m thankful the neighbours on my level have remained mostly unchanged. It’s bittersweet that my time to move out has arrived because while I’m leaving behind a part of me in this home, I’m excited to be building a new home to make memories in.

Fortunately, this is not goodbye forever as I will still be coming back to visit my family on a regular basis, so I guess it’s not such a sad parting after all. And as for the neighbourhood, although I’ll miss the convenience and sense of familiarity, I’ll definitely be back in its vicinity in no time to come!
