Another month, another milestone. Last month, I took one huge step towards adulting by finally moving out of my parents’ place. While it has been financially challenging, what’s been tougher thus far is having to keep up with the household chores on top of regular work and social life. Now, I have newfound respect for working dads and mums, especially those without external help, who have to balance parenting, household and other duties.
A couple days ago, I took another step towards becoming part of this group by saying goodbye to singlehood. It was a low-profile affair with only immediate family members invited, just how I’d have liked it though many, including myself, wouldn’t have seen this day coming. In fact, I recalled one of my closest friends proclaiming a few years back that he couldn’t envision me getting married in the future.
Fast forward to 2023, I guess I have proven him wrong. So far married life hasn’t been much different, except for the fact that there’s a lot more to do when it comes to managing the household and that may entail sacrificing some personal me-time. Otherwise, I’m looking forward to spending more quality time and building a family in this next stage of life.
