There’s a Chinese saying that goes: Strike the iron when it’s hot; there’s also an English adage that calls us to seize the day than regret letting it slip by. In life, there’s no rewind button and an opportunity gone by is an opportunity missed. So rather than being passive, I had to be proactive and take control.
Opportunities don’t come knocking every day which made them all the more valuable when other environmental factors come into play. So I’ve learnt over the years that in a competitive world, waiting isn’t the wisest strategy and that’s ‘cos I’ve missed a few boats because of my inaction.
Instead of watching the world go by rueing missed moments, I’m forging my own way and building my own vessel. It may be a small, rickety sampan today compared to fancy yachts and cruise liners sailing the high seas but one day, it’s going to make its slow and steady voyage towards the horizon.
