2017 didn’t quite get off on the right footing – 5 days in and I had already taken ill. For all the exercise and workout, without the right diet coming into the equation, the body is only as strong as the immunity system’s weakest link. Last year, I almost went the whole nine yards with nary a flu bug, save for a GE episode late in the final quarter.
So in terms of dietary intake, I’m going to stave off snacks and junk food as much as I can this year. In addition to piling on extra calories and elevating cholesterol and sugar levels which increase the likelihood of being afflicted with chronic illnesses, they also contribute to increasing the possibility of falling acutely sick in the near term.
In 2016, Mark Zuckerberg gave himself a physical challenge to run a total of 365 miles for the year. This year, I plan to do the same in terms of kilometres. Last year, I stayed relatively impervious to viruses and bugs partly due to the almost daily workouts, so hopefully keeping up the regimen this year will put me back in the same position again.
