Done & dusted

[]

One and a half month just flew past since my last entry here. Reflecting on what I wrote in end Sep, it sure had been one helluva 45-day period where long overdue meet-ups took place, an unexpected award landed, and most importantly, the final lead-up to the wedding reception. This buzz was also the reason I broke with the momentum of cataloging my life monthly on this blog.

In the midst of last-minute preparations, we continued playing hosts at our new abode while also catching up with friends outside. And in what could count as a double blessing, I earned a prestigious accolade at work much to my surprise. While I couldn’t be there to receive the award at the ceremony due to conflicting schedules, I’m truly humbled and honoured.

Even though we thought we were pretty well-prepared for the big day, pre-wedding anxiety still precipitated a mad rush on the final two days to tie up the loose ends. As simple as the reception was, apprehension somehow encumbered our sleep as we barely slept the night before. Thankfully, the big day went as we envisioned where we had plenty of time to interact with our guests without many of typical wedding frills.

We were thoroughly satisfied as majority of our invited guests, who have been a significant part of our lives in the past few years or even decades, made time to celebrate with us in the joyous occasion. We were also glad we went with a short lunch reception as it meant that we weren’t entirely drained by the end of the event and our guests got the rest of their afternoons back.

Now that this milestone event, which had been in the works for the past 10 months is done and dusted, we can’t wait for our upcoming adventure in less than a week’s time, a mini honeymoon down under before the big one next year in the lush expanse and grandeur of the Canadian Rockies.
