It was like back to BMT days this week as we did a 24km route march and took a trip to the Army Museum. And if that’s not enough, there’s also the issue of discipline.
Fortunately, the 24 clicks wasn’t as tough as the 16 we did last week because we only started the march in the evening and into the night. However, the march ain’t as smooth-sailing as we hoped it would be. Less than halfway through, inclement weather halted our progress. It was both a curse and blessing in disguise as it allowed us to take an extended break under shelter.
After we completed the march in the wee hours of the morning, we had little time to get some shut-eye as we had to move out early to the Army Museum for Family Day. It was a great learning experience as we looked into the past, present and future of the Singapore Army.
It was all fun and games until Friday proved to be the deal breaker. Again. Due to a series of disciplinary issues, regulations were tightened and stricter directives were passed. We no longer had our bargaining power. To aggravate matters, vehicles detailed for next week’s evaluation arrived late and dragged preparations late into the night. I reached home at midnight while others living further, even later.
There’s no doubt that Fridays just suck. Thank God Is Friday, not.
