Although I did the 24km graduation march in BMT around 5 months ago, Tuesday’s 16km route march was still quite a killer. Weight wasn’t much of an issue this time as we were more or less used to it. But the weather was enough to wreck havoc on our bodies. Even the most conditioned of bodies will tire quickly in the punishing heat.
What made matters worst were trying to keep up with the quick pace and lack of heat prevention measures. Some did not adequately hydrate themselves during the breaks as water parades were not strictly enforced. This evidently resulted in heat cramps during the march that led to the difficulties in completing it.
