The Last Hurrah

[]

Less than a month from today, I’ll bid adieu to life in SMU. It is my final semester, yet it still felt like every single of the past five I’ve spent during the last three years – with projects, assignments, and what-have-yous piling up late on. But it’s different in a way too – because I know that after this, I’ll be done with school.

I’ll miss the fond memories of chilling during summer breaks & after exams, but not so much the stressful times of staying up late to rush project deadlines or the frantic periods of course bidding. So far, this semester has been treating me well albeit a deluge of projects due in the next couple of days or so.

Not having to stay in school till past midnight thus far has been rewarding, though the flexibility of having Skype meetings anytime seems to have blurred the distinction between personal and academic space. Weekend meetings have also become a norm despite a three-day school week.

But I’m already on the final stretch and I’m not looking back. One week of classes, two fortnights, three projects, and four exams stand between me and the finishing line. On first December, I’ll be home and dry. After that, a new chapter of my life begins.
