The rare few times when being positive isn’t a good thing. To some, being trapped in isolation and cut off from social mingling for 10 days is one of their worst experiences in life; I didn’t have much trouble though since I have stayed in for longer periods before. The complications come instead from the after effects which have been pretty long-drawn to this point.
Not much is known about the long-term effects and the reasons some are affected more than others. But the fact is that people often underestimate how their quality of life can deteriorate once they’re afflicted. Like many, I took for granted my sense of smell and taste until I lost them all of a sudden one day. It was such an abrupt loss that I didn’t think much of it at the start.
As time wore on however, I couldn’t help but fear my future becoming devoid of olfactory stimulations. Reading about how many still can’t smell or taste months after recovering made things seem even bleaker; it’s no wonder some sink into depression. While I have yet to fully regain my sensory functions, I’ve made some improvements over the weeks and mildly hopeful that I will make a complete recovery in time to come.
