Last year, I did pretty well with my new year’s resolution – checking it off the list a good two months before the end of the year. This year, I thought long and hard before deciding that I shall be a little less fitness-focused even though I’m still gonna keep up with the regime. For 2018, my resolution is spurred by a revelation I made late last year on an overseas trip.
Typically when I’m abroad, I don’t get the luxury of space or time to cook. But on the recent Tasmania trip where the kitchen was readily available and time was on my side, I tried my hands at whipping up a few dishes which ended up being somewhat lacklustre. To be honest, I was a little disappointed the meals turned out that way, but then again, the last time I worked the stove was more than five years back.
Being the perfectionist I am, I couldn’t live with knowing I didn’t perform up to expectations. So this year, I vow to step into the kitchen more and brush up on my cooking know-how. Of course, I’m not gunning to be the next MasterChef but I certainly aim to polish up my culinary skills and be able to decently prepare three dishes and a soup by the end of the year.
