You know in life when something hard hits close to home and you crash to your lowest point in life, you get the sense that there’s no way else you can sink lower. Some people stay down and out for a prolonged period while others bounce back almost immediately like nothing happened. For most, they eventually climb out of this trough and they start afresh.

It’s not the easiest thing to walk out of the doldrums and say you’re ready to begin again. Sometimes a little jolting is needed to wake up to reality, something out of the ordinary. Other times, maybe a little time to ruminate and learn is necessary. Whichever the case, they reflect the way people react to situations in life and their resilience when facing setbacks.

I think it’s time to move on and pick myself up with the dust settled. Fortunately it didn’t take some life-changing event to shift me into second gear; all I needed was some time to come to terms with reality. There’s an adage which I live by that says “Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.” And so I’ll rise.
