Every Christmas, I’m reminded of a story that occurred years ago. I briefly recount the story below in Chinese to preserve its original meaning and expressions. I’ve also loosely translated the story in English further down the page though some of its meaning might have been lost in translation.

This story is written based on actual events.
When I was a student, I was infatuated with a girl.
I met her at a Christmas party on Christmas eve,
And sent her home after the party ended.
On the journey home, we chatted about many things.
Though I’ve long forgotten the details of our conversations,
The feeling still lingers on like it was just yesterday.
After all these years, I still think of her.
But I didn’t profess my love for her,
For we belong to two different worlds.
This Christmas, I’m reminded of her again.
The only way I can love her is to give her my best wishes,
And hope that she stays blessed and loved, always.
