Imagine a summer break of doing nothing except chillaxing while waiting for time to pass. Many find that that’s almost as boring as watching paint dry, but that’s what I’ve been doing (or not doing) for the past three months. Good days never last though as it’s time to go back to school for, perhaps, the final time.
On one hand, although I’m glad this break is over, it does mark an end to the countless school holidays I have enjoyed as a student for 15 years and counting.
As students, we almost always look forward to these breaks because it means giving our tired minds a break and going out to have fun. As we grow older and our thinking matures, we realize that having fun all-day isn’t going to put money on the table. So we started working whenever we get the chance to.
Of course not everyone come from equal family backgrounds – some can live it up and party nights away while others have to slog their guts out and supplement the family income. But regardless of what we spent our school holidays doing, these breaks always hold a special significance in the hearts of students.
This summer break is probably my last. So instead of working the time away, I chose to enjoy it the best way I could. No doubt the days could have been more productively spent, but a good day for me typically revolves around an empty schedule. As for work? I still have my whole life ahead of me to do that.
