Things just doesn’t go your way

Sometimes in life, you just can’t get what you want. Whether it’s in studies or work, you should learn to apply Murphy’s Law. Whatever may go wrong will go wrong. So, it’s no surprise that people just love to play us out. It’s been a tiresome evaluation this week as we seek to impress the new commander in charge at his first evaluation.

Actually, to be honest, the whole evaluation went quite smoothly and ended on time. But unfortunately, the containers for the 2 upcoming overseas trips failed to show up on Wednesday afternoon which led to Friday’s dinner being indented. That means that regardless of the situation, we are only allowed to book out after dinner.

Luckily for us, the containers turned up late Thursday morning which leaves us with precious little amount of time to pack our stuff. Nevertheless, the worst was yet to come. Just as we were about halfway through, we were informed to stop as some of the items have to be inspected before they can be loaded into the containers. Hence, there was no choice but to stop work for the day as it was already evening by the time we received the information.

So came Friday morning when we started to clear the items that needed to be inspected out of the containers after live run. Once the stuff are checked and the boxes sealed, we shifted them back into the containers. We got them done by around 3 in the afternoon. Then, the inevitable happened. No matter how much precautions we tried to take, we simply could not avoid the additional work assigned. With some bad planning, some of us only managed to complete our work at about 8. That’s 5 hours later.

Sometimes, you have to understand that doing last-minute work and having a screwed-up plan can seriously piss your workers off, especially if it’s on a Friday. Other than that, you just have to accept the fact – Life’s unfair. Suck it up.
