This week’s evaluation was both a success and a flop. We did reasonably well in the first and third attack missions but failed terribly in the second defence mission. Anyway, I went outfield despite nursing a half-swollen ankle from the sprain last week because I simply can’t come to terms with the prospects of staying in camp while my friends are fighting out there. Ok, maybe not but it’s just so boring to be away from all the action.
At least it wasn’t that bad since I had went outfield more than once with an injury of some sort. Some have labelled me as overzealous but I think it’s fair that I’m fighting with them on the same line and not using my injury as an excuse. So what if I had to carry a 10kg signal set and run all over the place? I feel contented doing my part for the company. In any case, I tried.
We go through thick and thin together. And it was entirely our fault and oversight for the failure of the defence mission. It was our over-complacency or cockiness that enabled them to round us and spring a surprise attack on us from the rear. We were caught unprepared, in our most naked state, and deserved to be thoroughly defeated. However, we can’t forget to give credit to them too. For their hard work and perseverance for finding a less fortified route up.
I guess most of us had learnt our lesson from that defeat. In times of war, we have to be always vigilant and prepared. Otherwise, the battle will just be a simple walkover. And by then, it’d already be too late.
