What promised to mark a spectacular ending to our 12 weeks training course ended in a sizzle. Just three days before our graduation day on Friday, we looked forward to the tower rappelling, casualty evacuation and the graduation parade itself where we would be presented with our berets.
However, the situation changed rapidly when we were informed on Thursday night that the rappelling might be cancelled due to a lack of safety equipment. And true to its word, we were denied a chance of descending the tower. Then came the shocker, as we prepared ourselves for the graduation parade on Friday afternoon, we were notified that the parade has been postponed due to unforeseen circumstances.
There’s a fair bit of disappointment if you ask me. But we’ll always know that it will be done some time soon, all that was promised to us. Besides, this has been a relatively short week due to the numerous book-ins and -outs, so I guess that kind of made up for it.
