Sad but true. People always rejoice in the arrival of Friday as it marks the end of a working week – Thank God It’s Friday! For us NSF, it concludes a tough week of training and we book out for the weekend to spend some time with our family and friends. However, trainees on course go through 5 and a half days of training and hence, only book out on Saturday morning.
Yes, booking out on Friday is a privilege, not an entitlement. Weekly performance will decide whether we’ll book out on Friday or Saturday. Although some may comment that a few hours doesn’t make much of a difference, but to someone who has been isolated from the civilian world for a couple of days, it matters a lot.
When we have worked hard for the first 4 days of the week, somehow we’ll just mess things up on Friday. And with things in disarray, our Friday book out is at stake. It has been like this ever since we were promised that Friday book outs will be awarded when there’s good performance.
Nonetheless, I guess that we’ll always think that once said, everything will be set in stone. But every week, we’ll just waste away the opportunity and hard work we’ve put in for the rest of the week because of our complacency.
