Rainy days & late nights

It’s been raining for the whole past week. All I see everyday are grey clouds and gloomy skies. And when you thought it has finally stop raining, you see dark clouds in the distance bringing on another downpour. But what makes it worst is that I’ve been outfield this whole week.

Drench-soaked uniforms and soggy boots have become commonplace. So, what do we do? Easy. Remove, air-dry, put on. Repeat. Yes, that’s what we did for 5 days with the same set of uniform. Haha, yes, it’s unhygenic but who really cares when you’re in the army and everyone is doing the same thing.

Besides, there simply wasn’t enough time to rinse and dry them by the next day because we’ve been working past midnight for these few days cleaning our rifles thoroughly. And we would still have to wake up as per normal for the next day’s training programme. Obviously, getting enough sleep is more important than staying up to wash our uniforms.

Furthermore, we’ll get dirty again the following day so why bother washing or changing to a new set of uniform? That’s probably the mindset of the majority. I’m not saying that we shouldn’t keep clean but when you’re in the army, you don’t really have that kind of time to spare.

Haha, actually life’s quite ok at the moment. We just started to go outfield this week only for section training. How about yours? I heard that you guys get very little sleep during Grand Slam…

Btw, good to see that you’re finally coping with life at sispec. Hope you’ll remain with this positive mindset and push on with training! 🙂
